1. Palace Area

Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Deoksugung are the three major palaces in Seoul.
They are located in northern part of Seoul.

2. Itaewon


Itaewon is located in the center of Seoul and it's home to Korea's international community.
English is widely spoken in almost every store and restaurant.
Itaewon is always full of non-Korean residents from Western people to Africans and Middle Easterners.
You can appreciate all kinds of ethnic food in Itaewon such as Indian, Thai, Mexican, American, French, Turkish and etc.
Itaewon is very popular for shopping and dining as well. It's also very foreigner-friendly and gay-friendly.
Itaewon has a gay street, I don't know the name of the street but it's close to Itaewon Fire Station.


3. Insadong

 
Insadong is located close to the palaces I've mentioned above and it's home to Korea's traditional arts and culture.
There are many antique shops, art galleries and Korean traditional restaurants in Insadong.
It's a great place to buy souvenirs.


4. Daehagno or Sinchon & Hongdae
Seoul's student quarter and there are many theaters and concert halls as well.
Hongdae is right next to Sinchon and it's a mecca of clubs. (dance clubs, live music clubs, night clubs and etc.)

5. Myeongdong

Myeongdong is a crowded shopping place and full of famous restaurants.


6. Namdaemun Market or Dongdaemun Market

They are the oldest open-air market and one of the largest shopping district in Korea.
Also, Namdaemun(South Great Gate) itself is worth a visit but it burned down due to an arson fire in February, 2008.


7. Namsan Park and N Seoul Tower



Namsan is Seoul's Landmark peak and it has a famous tower called N Seoul Tower.
The tower has a fantastic view when you go there at night.

8. Apgujeong and Chungdam

This place is called Korean Beverly Hills. They have dozens of designers' brand shops like Prada, Gucci and Armani.
People are very fashionable and gorgeous here.
You can often have chances to see Korean celebrities on the street of this area.


9. COEX

This is the largest underground shopping complex in Asia and it's close to Buddhist temple(called Bong-Eun-Sa) and has a huge aquarium as well.
It also has the biggest movie theater in Korea - Megabox.
